Our Community

Duke’s Aldridge Academy is proud to be at the heart of our local community. We want our students to understand that being part of Duke’s means being part of a wider community built on Trust, Respect and Resilience, with respect for one another, our families, our academy and the community around us.

Strong relationships with parents, carers and our local community are central to our work. We know that young people achieve their best when school and home work together, and we are committed to creating opportunities for families to engage with academy life, access support and play an active role in their child’s education.

Throughout the year, we provide a range of activities, events and opportunities for students, parents, carers and members of our wider community. These are designed to strengthen relationships, support families, raise aspirations and ensure that Duke’s makes a positive contribution to the community we serve.

Supporting Transition

Our transition programme begins well before students arrive for their first day at Duke’s. We work closely with our primary schools, students and families to help every child feel confident, welcomed and ready to make a successful start to secondary school.

Students have opportunities to become familiar with the academy, meet staff and other students, and experience aspects of the secondary curriculum through a range of academic, creative and practical activities. We also work directly with parents and carers, sharing information, answering questions and establishing the strong home-school partnership that will support their child throughout their time at Duke’s.

Our aim is simple: every new student should begin Year 7 feeling that they belong at Duke’s, are known by the adults who will support them and are excited about the opportunities ahead.
